The Peanut Gallery: e.l.f. Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths

While I try to use face washes etc to remove my makeup I like to have makeup wipes handy to use in a pinch. I ran out of my Neutrogena ones and since my local Target recently started carrying e.l.f. products I decided to give these a try.

Price: $3
There are 20 wipes in a pack leaving it at $0.15 a wipe which is a little cheaper than Neutrogena's roughly $0.18 per wipe.

The Breakdown:

  • effectiveness: From what I could tell the wipes did a pretty good job of removing my makeup, though I wouldn't recommend them for removing eye makeup (see feel bellow)
  • smell: I'm not sure how to describe the smell but its not pleasant nor (to my nose) unpleasant it just sort of is neutral.
  • feel: These wipes are definitely rougher than other makeup remover wipes I have tried. Using them on my eyelids was unpleasant and left my eyelids feeling a little sore (yea, I only tried that once :P )
  • side effects:
    • hydrating and soothing? e.l.f. claims that these wipes are "soft and soothing for even the most sensitive skin" and also claims they are hydrating. While they did not immediately dry out my skin right after use they didn't seem to be very hydrating and my skin was definitely just as overly dry as usual if not more so a little while after using the wipes.
    • acne alert: I have acne prone skin and these made me break out and all it took was one use to figure that out, though I did use them a couple more times just to make sure it actually was these and not anything else.

Final Words: I quit using these after a few uses and will not be buying them again. I would not recommend them to anyone with sensitive skin or acne prone skin.
